🚨WAIT…before you start packing for your UK trip

🚨WAIT…before you start packing for your UK trip

In today’s digital age, staying connected while travelling has become almost as essential as packing your passport.

Whether it’s for navigating getting from Heathrow Airport to the city centre to keeping in touch with loved ones while you swim on the English coast…or finding the best fish and chips while you’re out and about (the most important of them all), having smooth internet connectivity is a guaranteed way to make your travels run more smoothly from the start.

With that said, I highly recommend getting Holafly eSIM before your trip.

P.S. – Don’t forget to take 5% your ESIM purchase with code ‘CANDACEABROAD‘ x

What is an eSIM and how does it work?

Unlike traditional SIM cards eSIMs can be activated electronically without the need for a physical card, offering a convenient and seamless way to stay connected with mobile internet.

Once you experience how easy it is to use an eSIM, you truly never go back!

Why is Holafly’s eSIM the best option for traveling?

I like Holafly’s eSIM in particular, as they offer great coverage across the UK and Europe.

This ensures you’ll remain seamlessly connected for the whole of your UK trip, wherever your adventures take you.

Their service also extends across 200 destinations globally, with an unlimited data esim available in over 150 of them.

Plus, flexible packages, ranging from 5 days to an impressive 90 days of unlimited data catering to every traveller’s needs — whether you’re in the UK for a short London city break or an extended tour across the UK, Europe and beyond (and 24/7 support if it’s your first time using an eSIM and need help along the way!).

Not to mention, only getting charged for the exact amount of data you use during your trip. It’s a must.

Now that you’ve got your UK eSIM and Europe eSIM and connectivity sorted, it’s time to prep for your UK trip!

5 Essential Tips for Travelling to the UK

1. Pack for All (Very UK) Weather Conditions

1. Pack for All (Very UK) Weather Conditions

The UK is deliriously famous for its unpredictable weather. In fact, you may very well experience all four seasons in a single day!

To stay comfortable, pack layers – and lightweight clothes you can layer up or down.

You should also always have a waterproof jacket or umbrella, as rain showers can come unexpectedly.

And lastly, make sure you have comfortable walking shoes, which are a must-have for exploring cities and charming English countryside paths.

2. Plan Your UK Travel Around Off-Peak Times If Possible

2. Plan Your UK Travel Around Off-Peak Times If Possible

Travelling during off-peak hours can save you money and time, especially when it comes to UK transportation.

The UK’s rail network offers cheaper fares outside of morning and evening rush hours, making it best to book your day trips from London or UK adventures for mid-morning or post rush hour for your journeys.

Similarly, visiting popular tourist attractions early in the morning or later in the afternoon can mean fewer crowds and a more enjoyable experience.

Also, consider traveling in the shoulder seasons (spring and autumn) when attractions are less crowded, and accommodation prices can be lower.

3. Get Acquainted with the UK Local Currency and Payment Methods

3. Get Acquainted with the UK Local Currency and Payment Methods

While the UK is becoming increasingly card-friendly, it’s always wise to carry some cash, especially for smaller purchases in local markets or rural areas (London is mainly card only now, but cash is still preferred with local market vendors like at Portobello Road Market!).

For the UK, this means withdrawing some Great British Pounds (£) from your nearest bank or ATM.

You’ll also want to make sure you’re not charged international transaction fees before your visit, as these can really rack up!

Additionally, make sure to inform your bank of your UK travel plans to avoid any frozen card issues due to sudden international use.

4. Explore Beyond London

4. Explore Beyond London

London is a must-see for your UK trip (of course, I’m incredibly biased), but the UK is so much more than its capital.

Cities like Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast offer rich histories and vibrant cultures. Not to mention short day trips from London like Oxford or Cambridge.

And who could forget the English countryside? With its quaint villages and pastoral-like landscapes providing a tranquil contrast to the bustling city life in places like Castle Combe and Lacock.

You can also visit national parks like the Lake District or explore coastal areas like Cornwall for breathtaking natural beauty.

The UK’s public transportation system is extensive and efficient, making it an excellent option for getting around.

5. Use Public Transportation and Save

 5. Use Public Transportation and Save

Invest in an Oyster card or contactless card if you’re spending a few days in London for cheaper fares on buses and the Tube.

And for other UK cities and towns, be sure to look up the cheapest transport routes before your trip!

P.S. – In smaller UK countryside towns you’ll find ridesharing apps like Uber are pretty non-existent, so you’ll need to call a taxi if you want to get around without local buses!

Bonus Tip: Embrace the Local British Culture

Bonus Tip: Embrace the Local British Culture

From learning the art of the queue to enjoying a hearty pub meal, or simply chatting with locals —  immersing yourself in the UK way of life is a surefire way to enrich your UK travel experience.

Overall, travelling to the United Kingdom is a one-of-a-kind adventure that promises historical discovery, culture, natural beauty, and a great fish and chips.

With these tips in hand, you’re set to navigate the country like a seasoned traveller, making the most of every moment in this diverse and ever-so-fascinating part of the world (if I do say so myself).

Happy travels!
