As you stroll along, you’ll spot tons of independent cafes, cosy restaurants and cool bars with relaxed ambiences. One of my faves is Draughts, a place that literally blends everything I just said: a trendy cafe with a huge library that’s also a bar with board games to enjoy before your food.
For shoppers, you’ll find several quirky options to please every need and desire. Including Pelicans & Parrots, an eclectic vintage store with a curated selection of clothing, accessories, and homeware.
But, believe me, there’s so much more. Guess you’ll have to see for yourself!
2. Rio Cinema

The iconic Art Deco Rio Cinema is a cultural highlight in Dalston, with history from 1930s breathing out of its facade.
This independent cinema features a mixture of arthouse and mainstream films, but also various film festivals and cultural events throughout the year, cementing its badge of a movie lover’s paradise.
They have a spectacular 400 seat auditorium with top-notch acoustics, making it an ideal spot to catch the latest film releases. And they just built a new state-of-the-art 30 seat second screen with its own cocktail bar and lounge.
The building was also listed as Grade II by the English Heritage, so it’s a must-visit for spending a day in Dalston.
3. Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

Take a break from the urban setting and step into tranquillity at the Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, a green lung right in the heart of Dalston.
