As one of London’s most village-like areas, it’s easy to think Belsize Park offers no more than a few boutique brunch spots and pretty houses.
But like with most of my favourite underrated London neighbourhoods, there’s more to be found here than meets the eye.
However when it comes to green space, the best spots to go aren’t in Belsize Park itself, but around the area. Either way, here’s the best parks and green space in and around Belsize Park to enjoy for a spell.
The Best Parks & Green Space In and Around Belsize Park

Belsize Wood
8 Woodland Walk, London NW3 2BZ

If you’re a Belsize Park resident (or soon to be) and are in need of a city escape, consider skipping the Primrose Hills and Hampstead Heaths of London (at least once) in exchange for a stroll through Belsize Wood.
The quaint .7 acres of woodlands sits over a railway tunnel, acquired in 1971 by the Camden Council, right across the road from the Isokon Building.
There’s buckets of interesting wildlife and insects to be found here, so why not spend some lazy minutes roaming the area?
Primrose Hill
Primrose Hill Rd, London NW1 4NR

Although it’s not in Belsize Park, Primrose Hill is only a short 15 minute walk from the area — and most definitely worth the visit.
Most commonly known for its viewpoint across London, Primrose Hill consistently ranks for one of the best views in the city.
I suggest packing up a picnic and a bottle of wine (or simply grab a coffee in Belsize Park and make the walk up) and spending at least an hour or two here if you can to get the full experience.
Hampstead Heath
East Heath Road, London NW3 7JP

I couldn’t talk about parks and green space in Belsize Park without mentioning the glorious Hampstead Heath.
In just 10 minutes from Belsize Park you can enjoy London’s most famed green space, covering over 800 acres of lovely countryside feels.
Its landscape is bursting with woodlands, meadows, swimming ponds and ancient trees, including many historical sites like the Hill Garden and Pergola and Kenwood House. If you’re visiting, plan to spend at least 2-3 hours here to do it justice.
