Looking for the best pubs and bars in Belsize Park? Whether you’re looking for a proper pub quiz or laid-back nightcap, here’s the best places to get a buzz in the area.
Belsize Park is the type of neighbourhood that’s always full of surprises. Often overshadowed by Hampstead and Primrose Hill, a short afternoon in the area is all you need to realise there’s much to discover in this North London gem.
But a day of exploring Belsize Park is certain to leave you thirsty. So without further ado, here’s where to find the best pubs and bars in Belsize Park, from a Londoner.
The Best Pubs and Bars in Belsize Park, London
1. The Sir Richard Steele Pub
97 Haverstock Hill, London NW3 4RL
The Sir Richard Steele has gained a reputation in Belsize Park for their cosy beer garden, laid-back pub food and neighbourhood feel.
Named after Richard Steele (a famous Irish writer and politician) the pub has been designated as an asset of community value for its local history and importance to the community. An evening here is guaranteed to include local ales, Belgian beers and a juicy pub burger, if you choose.
2. The Washington Pub
50 England’s Ln, Belsize Park, London NW3 4UE
The Washington Pub sits pretty next to Primrose Hill, well-known for its Victorian architecture, Sunday roasts and Monday night pub quizzes (with celebrity spottings incredibly common).
The atmosphere is cosy and drink choices are never-ending, with a wide selection of craft beers and carefully-selected wines at your fingertips. For the full experience, make you sure visit on a Sunday for their roast or a Monday for their pub quiz.
3. The Haverstock Tavern
94 Haverstock Hill, London NW3 2BD
It’s not everyday your local pubs been around for over 150 years, unless you’re The Haverstock Tavern of course. Handsome and Georgian this pub is a boozy Londoners dream, with comfy booths, warm service and a spacious beer garden to call home.
They claim they’ve got the best wine list in North London (and homemade bar snacks too), along with a unique set of posters and decor that gives it the total ‘old pub’ feel.
4. The Stag
67 Fleet Rd, London NW3 2QU
Four words — cabana, craft beers, delicious food, big tents (okay that was six, but you get my point). With a humble brag of being named one of North London’s best pub gardens, The Stag is where you go for a good pub day out.
Pop into the independent pub for a pint and spot of al fresco dining, or simply take in the views of Belsize Park from their roof terrace.
Very random, but I particularly rate the pizza here too. All the dough is handmade and ingredients locally-sourced, mmm.
5. Wine Rack London
206 Haverstock Hill, London NW3 2AG
In a neighbourhood like Belsize Park, let’s just say cheap alcohol isn’t always easy to come by. Unless you go to The Wine Rack of course.
Think of it like an off license with a sit-in license essentially, just minutes from Belsize Park station. Simply order from their vast and fantastic selection of wines, spirits, champagnes and Cuban cigars and take in Belsize Park while you sip away al fresco style.
Due to the nature of the bar (i.e people shopping without necessarily looking to sit down to drink) you may experience queues here from time to time, but it’ll be well worth the wait.
Best Restaurants with Great Wine & Cocktails in Belsize Park
Although they aren’t necessarily pubs or bars in Belsize Park, the Belsize Park restaurants — Calici and Jamon Jamon both have a lovely wine and cocktail selection.
