Brighton’s seafront has no shortage of hotels.

You’ve got grand old names, chains, small guesthouses and enough “boutique” bedrooms facing the water to make choosing one become a Brighton activity in itself.

Yet, somehow, Number 124 Brighton by GuestHouse Hotels still manages to stand out.

I stayed here on my most recent weekend in Brighton, and we ended up using far more of the hotel than I expected.

I spent an almost embarrassingly lazy hour looking out at the seafront from our room. Tucked into a full English, disappeared into the spa for a full-body massage and had a Marmalade Paddington cocktail made for me by ‘Elliot’ on request (in case you’re looking for ideas…), all in one weekend.

Here’s everything to know for your stay.

Shall we?

Quick Overview: Is Number 124 Brighton by GuestHouse Hotels Worth It?

NO. 124 Brighton

Yes. I’d stay again—especially for a Brighton weekend where you want the hotel itself to be part of the trip.

Would I stay again?Absolutely

The Rooms

Let’s start with the rooms, which manage to feel completely tied to Brighton and seaside charm without reaching for the obvious striped cushions and anchors.

In the rooms, you’ll find all the quirks of an alternative seaside escape—from antiqued brass, fluted glass, Frette gowns, Wildsmith toiletries, a Roberts radio and—my favourite—a turntable, with more vinyl downstairs to borrow.

And just outside your room, you’ll find The Pantry for complimentary snacks and drinks. If you’re wondering, yes, it’s dangerous.

NO. 124 Brighton

But for me, above all, the sea view rooms win here.

NO.24-Brighton

Our room looked towards Brighton Beach and the skeletal remains of the West Pier, which made it inevitable that I’d spend an hour doing absolutely nothing except watching people move along the promenade.

The Breakfast

The next morning I went straight for the full English and a flat white to prep me for a day of Brighton’ing ahead, and it did not disappoint.

The breakfast menu is à la carte rather than an enormous buffet: so think pastries, fruit, yoghurt and chia pots sit beside eggs Benedict, Royale and Florentine, shakshuka, avocado on rye and cooked breakfasts.

The Field Trip Spa

If you fancy some added respite on your trip, I’d book a full-body massage at Field Trip Spa.

The treatment rooms are tucked away and remarkably quiet, with Brighton’s seafront directly outside the hotel to enjoy post-treatment.

At the time of writing, the current full-body massage is £115 for 60 minutes Monday to Thursday and £135 Friday to Sunday; 90 minutes is £185 / £205. There’s also facials, deep-tissue treatments, hot sandstone massage and the Copper Cove treatment for two.

If you’re only in Brighton for one night, I’d definitely make room for a treatment if you can. Especially for a (very) lazy seaside afternoon.

Drinks, Nibbles & the Terrace

If the room, pantry, breakfast and spa weren’t enough (showing off a bit at this point) the bar, lounge, games room and courtyard, with the sea-facing Terrace Bar outside is sure to tempt—alongside the Pearly Cow if you’re looking for dinner.

We kept it light and had tipples and nibbles on the terrace, looking straight across Kings Road to the water. Try Elliot’s Marmalade Paddington cocktail if you’re looking for a recommendation.

By complete chance, our stay also landed on 12 August, during the partial solar eclipse, so quite the addition to terrace drinks!

The Location

Address-wise, you’ll be right on 124 Kings Road, with the beach and West Pier immediately opposite.

It worked especially well for our weekend. We could walk back towards the Royal Pavilion, North Laine and The Lanes for central Brighton, then head west along the seafront towards Hove the next morning without doubling back on our trip.

Final Thoughts: Would I Stay at Number 124 Brighton by GuestHouse Hotels Again?

Yes. Especially if you want more than a Brighton postcode for your trip.

From small touches like the record player, to the sea right outside your window, breakfast downstairs, a massage where the noise of Kings Road disappears and somewhere lovely to take a drink before dinner—if you’re after a stylish seaside escape with actual character, I’d happily recommend it.

Have the loveliest time in Brighton.

Happy travels,

Candace x
