A Day in the Life of a Full-Time Blogger (2026)

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a full-time blogger? Today I’m pulling the curtains behind exactly what my day-to-day looks like as, you guessed it — a full-time blogger!

In May 2022 I made a decision that would forever change the trajectory of my life, I became a full-time blogger!

Combining my love for London, women empowerment and travel, I created Candace Abroad, a London & travel blog aimed at helping women live London life to the fullest.

But as a Type A Capricorn, being self-employed meant I had to have a schedule to keep my head on straight.

Although no two days ever look the same as a full-time blogger, I thought I’d share a glimpse into what my daily schedule looks like.

Whether you’re thinking of becoming a blogger yourself or recently went full-time and are looking for ways to structure your day, I hope you find it helpful!

Day in the Life of a Full-Time Blogger

5am – 8am: Pre-Blogging Morning Routine

pre-blogging-workout

Pre-blogging workout to start the day! 💪🏽

I tend to wake up every day between 5am (on a really good day) to 6/6:30am.

One of the best parts of working for yourself is not having to wake up at a certain time to get to a job.

Although this freedom is great, I find waking up at a similar time each day really helps me feel balanced throughout the week.

My morning routine is quite unstructured but usually involves journaling, a quick meditation, and going to the gym.

All of these things do wonders for my mental health which should always come before blogging and running a business!

If I have a blog post I’m really excited to finish I’ll usually do my morning routine for 15-20 minutes then start writing in the early AM and go to the gym after.

I personally find writing without the distractions of the world super peaceful, but some may find 6am, a horrible time to jot full sentences together!

8am – 9am: Get Ready, Breakfast & Blog Post of the Day

The early writer gets the worm 💻

If it’s a normal day, after I’ve gotten back from the gym it’s time check my schedule on Google Calendar and get straight to starting my blog post of the day.

I write completely for SEO, so all the blog posts I write are based on keyword research through my favourite keyword research tool Keysearch.

I have a spreadsheet with about 1,000 keywords I want to rank for I completed earlier in the year. So now it’s just a matter of…actually writing them!

At this stage in the blog I do have a part-time writer and VA that help loads both with creating and formatting posts on candaceabroad.com.

But I personally love creating and writing for my site (and love to write!) so I still do a lot of writing blog posts in my day-to-day.

Once I’ve sat down post-breakfast I’ll usually go to my home office or co-working space (I’m a Soho Works and Soho House member), make a coffee or tea and get straight to writing from either an outline I’ve made for myself or from scratch.

9am – 11am/12pm: Deep Work Writing

My serious deep work face at Cafe in the Crypt in London, only thing I’m missing is my blue light glasses!

I find it incredibly hard to write a blog post if I’m distracted, so from 9am – 11am (sometimes 12pm) I like to turn off all distractions to create a deep work environment for myself. This includes:

  • Turning off my phone and putting it in my drawer or in a different room
  • Putting on an instrumental jazz or lo-fi playlist on Spotify to get into focus mode
  • Writing all thoughts/notes/ideas that come to my head in Chrome Notes instead of opening new tabs (any creative will know your brain is constantly busting with new ideas, especially when you’re working on something creative, but a busy brain can be mega distracting when you’re trying to write!)

12pm – 3pm: Emails, Communications, Meetings

Pre-Zoom Meeting Marathon

By 12pm I’ve usually completed and published a blog post I’ve worked on or at least gotten a good chunk of it done to pick up tomorrow.

Now, saying I’m just a full-time blogger wouldn’t truly paint the whole picture as I’m a full-time influencer too with quite a big online presence (although the blog was where it started).

Because of this, 12pm – 3pm is usually when I dive into the pile of emails waiting for me with everything from lucrative brand partnerships both for the blog and/or my Instagram and Tik Tok, to invoices I need to issue or companies asking me to work for free in exchange for a backlink or a free bag of chips.

I prefer the former…

This is also when I’ll reach out to my part-time writer.

She works based on due dates and deliverables, not hours — so I just do a quick check-in to see how she’s coming along and if she has any questions I can help with.

I tend to assign her all the blog posts that I find boring to write/don’t need my personal experience/would take me too long to do myself while completing my other tasks.

After that, I’ll reach out to my VA and do the same type of check-in. Her tasks include things such as Facebook Management, Pinterest, blog formatting, and basically all the tiny bits of work for Candace Abroad I don’t have time to do anymore.

9/10 she usually has a handle on things so there’s not much I have to do here outside of assigning her the initial task.

I may also have a meeting or two with a brand, my part-time writer, or VA during this time either online or in person.

P.S. – This doesn’t include ‘shoot days’ where I’ll pretty much be MIA after writing a blog post either getting content for my blog or social media somewhere in London, the UK, or even abroad!

3pm – 6pm: Social Media & Wrap Up Tasks

Time to edit some reels 🎥

After I’ve gotten through all my blog post and admin bits for the day I’ll take on the beast that is social media.

Okay that sounds dramatic, but you know what I mean. It’s a lot!

I used to solely make reels and Tik Toks that would align with a blog post I’d written on the site, but over time I realised this didn’t fully work for my social media and blog schedule so I tend to keep them separate with some overlap from time to time (for example, my Things to do in Notting Hill blog post and How to Spend a Day in Notting Hill video).

During this time if I’m not posting a social media video, I’ll usually do some keyword research with Keysearch for my blog, continue a course or workshop I’m taking or do some of my accounting bits (P.S. — if you’re in the UK I use the accountants at StriveX and they’re amazing! Especially their founder).

6pm – 10pm: Life!

downtime-blogging-candace-abroad

Downtime in Berlin with my love!

Admittedly in the early stages of my blogging career (and even now sometimes) from 6pm – 10pm I would still continue working.

Churning away either getting another blog post done, working on a digital product, or taking a course to learn a new skill.

Because I love what I do, it’s sometimes hard for me to set boundaries with work. I truly could have non-stop energy from it up until 10pm!

But as any sane human will tell you, that’s not always the healthiest.

Nowadays I try and quit working around 6/6:30pm and either eat dinner and spend time with my partner, meet a friend somewhere in London, go on a long walk, Facetime my family in the US or simply binge out on Netflix.

I’ll also travel for leisure when I can (being a travel blogger I had a long period of time where I neglected my personal love of travel and would only travel companies — not anymore!) and sometimes have an event in London to attend which is usually in the evenings.

Attending my friend’s Eulanda’s show release at the Shard!

The point is, I stop working and remember to enjoy life outside of blogging.

Final Thoughts on My Day in My Life as a Full-Time Blogger

Although no two days look the same as a blogger, I hope this helped paint a picture of what life as a full-time blogger truly looks like on the day-to-day.

For me at least, I’ve always found reading or watching how other people do things incredibly helpful for my own journey, so I hope this was for yours too!
