Crouch End has been officially crowned the best neighbourhood to live in London by The Sunday Times — but beyond its residential appeal, it’s a brilliant day out too.
Think independent cafés, leafy walks, and loads of North London charm.

The Best Things to Do in Crouch End, London
1. Admire the iconic Clock Tower
Crouch End’s most iconic landmark is its Clock Tower, so of course it’s worth your first stop.
Take in local heritage with a walk past the red-brick Clock Tower —crafted in 1895 to honour community benefactor Henry Reader Williams, before starting your potter around the neighbourhood.
2. Breakfast at Sourdough Sophia
A beloved micro-bakery Sourdough Sophia is a North London favourite, renowned for its 100% sourdough loaves, mouthwatering pastries, and lovely coffee, all made with simple ingredients.
You’ll have dreams about the Spinach Cruffin here…
3. Explore Crouch End’s Local Independents
One of the best things about Crouch End is just how many independent shops you’ll find by wandering around, especially on its High Street and Park Road.
From bookshops like House of Books to record shops like The Little Record Shop, it’s a neighbourhood that fully rewards curiosity.
Add in a handful of delis, design stores, and local spots you’ll only find here and you’ve got the perfect excuse to simply walk around and see what you stumble on!
4. Shop at Little Paris
Speaking of, make sure to add Little Paris to your things to do in Crouch End list.
This interiors gem feels like a Parisian boutique — think elegant homewares and vintage finds, directly sourced from the city of love.
Whether you’re after a statement piece or a tiny memento, it’s one of those “I didn’t know I needed this” kind of shops.
5. Browse Blooms at The Urban Flower Co.
Another shop gem in Crouch End is The Urban Flower Co.
The floral design studio is known for their beautiful sculptural-like arrangements along with seasonal fresh stems, bouquets, and perhaps, your next London houseplant?
6. Walk the Parkland Walk
I love walking in London, but I can honestly say I’ve never done a walk like the Parkland Walk, until I visited Crouch End.
Set on an abandoned railway track, you can join it just off the Broadway, leading you down a surprisingly lovely green stretch of path.
Here you’ll find plenty of trees and wildflowers, and the occasional fox if you’re lucky. It’s an easy walk and good break between stops in the neighbourhood or post-exploring.

7. Wine & Small Plates at Lyon’s Seafood & Wine Bar
All of your Crouch End exploring is sure to leave you hungry, and when it does, you’ll want to find Lyon’s Seafood & Wine Bar right off the high street.
The seafood is beautifully fresh — from buttery scallops, to oysters on ice, and crispy whitebait.
The wine list is small but carefully curated, and the interiors are gorgeous. A fab lunch spot in the neighbourhood!
8. Hornsey Library
Right off the Broadway, Hornsey Library is one of the most wholesome things to get up to in Crouch End — and it’s more than just books.
Alongside the usual shelves, you’ll find regular art exhibitions, community events, and a small gallery space. Great for a pop in!
9. Pint at The Queen’s Head
It’s simply not a London neighbourhood without a designated neighbourhood pub, and in Crouch End — it’s The Queen’s Head.
It’s Grade II-listed and has been here since the early 1900s, with the kind of old-school charm that makes it easy to lose track of time.
I’ve popped in for both a quick drink and a Sunday roast, and it works equally well for both — busy enough to have a buzz, but still somewhere you can get a seat.
10. Catch an Independent Film at ArtHouse
And lastly, a day in Crouch End should most definitely include ArtHouse.
The friendly neighbourhood cinema is a two-screen indie spot in a converted Salvation Army hall, showing everything from new releases to cult classics — super relaxed and local.
