Leafy, peaceful, and full of charm, Highgate is one of those London neighbourhoods that doesn’t shout for attention, but is oh worth the visit.
If you’re on the hunt for a slower-paced neighbourhood to start your day, it’s a lovely shout for brunch.
Think village vibes, plenty of green, and cafés that feel more like local favourites than trending TikTok hotspots (in the best way).
From laid-back coffee stops to creative menus worth the trek north, here are the best places for brunch in Highgate — handpicked from my own local pottering around.

The Best Highgate Breakfast & Brunch Spots

1. Food Room
305 Archway Rd, London N6 5AA
Food Room is the kind of place you stumble into once and just can’t stop thinking about after.
Tucked just off the main stretch, this cheerful little café has a cosy, lived-in feel — perfect for a catch-up, a solo bite, or just sitting still for a bit with something excellent in front of you.
The brunch here leans hearty: think potato cakes, chorizo-style sausage, pancetta, cornbread, fried eggs, smoky salsa… it’s bold, filling, and full of flavour.
And if you’ve got room after that (unlikely, but worth trying), the homemade cakes and pies are always worth a look.
A local favourite for good reason.
Must try: The Breakfast Special
2. Archie’s
36 Highgate Hl, London N19 5NL
Tucked right into the leafy calm of Highgate, Archie’s is part café, part plant shop — and easily one of the prettiest brunch spots in the area.
The interiors are full of greenery, and if the sun’s out, the terrace is a lovely place to linger — quiet, open, and surprisingly spacious for North London.
The menu mixes classic brunch comfort with a few creative twists. Buttermilk blueberry pancakes are a standout if you’ve got a sweet tooth, while the Quinoa Chaufa gives things a savoury, South American lean you won’t find just anywhere.
It’s thoughtful, stylish, and a little unexpected — a great shout when you want something a bit different without straying far from home.
Must try: The Loco Chorizo
3. The Pavilion Cafe
Road access via Muswell Hill Rd, Onslow Gardens, London N10 3JN
The Pavilion Cafe sits right inside Highgate’s Waterlow Park, making it a quiet, scenic choice for a morning bite.
The space is light and inviting, often filled with locals, families, dog walkers, and the occasional post-run coffee stop.
The menu’s unfussy — porridge, avocado and feta toast, a good coffee — but everything’s done with care.
And once you’re well-fed, the rest of the park’s right there waiting.
Must try: The Avocado Tomato on Toast with Poached Egg
4. Turkuaz Brasserie
6 South Grove, London N6 6BS
Turkuaz Brasserie brings a proper slice of Turkey to the middle of Highgate — all patterned tiles, sunny interiors, and a warm, easygoing feel.
The menu leans classic Mediterranean, with a few brunch staples thrown in. Their Menemen — soft scrambled eggs with tomatoes and peppers — is especially good, and the full Mediterranean breakfast is the one to go for if you’re really hungry.
It’s a great pick when you want something a bit different from the usual eggs-on-toast, and the space itself makes it easy to linger. No passport required.
Must try: The Serpme Plate (to share)
5. Cool Carrot
259 Archway Rd, London N6 5BS
Cool Carrot brings a mix of New York comfort, Sri Lankan spice, and London café culture — all under one (very friendly) roof in Highgate.
The menu skips the usual brunch formulas for something a bit more unexpected.
You might go from a proper bagel to a warming Sri Lankan curry, then end with a generous slice of cake — and somehow, it works. Smoothies like the Melon Refresher and Avo Gogo also make a fine choice.
Must try: The ‘Cool Carrot’ Cake
6. Bistro Laz
1-2 Highgate W Hill, London N6 6JS
Tucked just off the main road, Bistro Laz brings together Turkish and Italian flavours in a relaxed, Mediterranean-leaning setting.
The menu is long — wraps, mezze, crepes, pancakes, even pizza — so there’s a bit of something for everyone, whether you’re brunching or leaning more lunch. It’s casual, unfussy, and easy to settle into, especially with a Highgate coffee or cocktail in hand.
A good pick for a local Highgate breakfast.
Must try: Eggs Royal with Spinach
7. Vanilla Cafe
395 Archway Rd, London N6 4ER
Vanilla Cafe is a cosy Highgate spot that keeps things simple — home-style brunch, friendly staff, and a few standout cakes that change regularly.
The menu’s familiar (eggs, toast, a bit of everything), but it’s the cakes that set it apart. Think mango and coconut mousse, spinach and cheese ‘forest’ cake, or a classic fraisier — not your usual café bakes, but always worth a try.
A good pick for a low-key Highgate breakfast — especially if you’ve got a sweet tooth.
Must try: The Falafel Wrap
8. The Angel Inn
37 Highgate High St, Greater, London N6 5JT
The Angel Inn is a classic Highgate pub that also happens to serve a lovely bottomless brunch.
For £30, you’ll get a main and 90 minutes of unlimited Prosecco, Bloody Marys, or Camden Hells. The space is warm and characterful — exposed beams, eclectic décor, and a fireplace that makes it especially inviting in London’s colder months.
A good pick if you’re after a laid-back, slightly boozy brunch without heading into central.
Must try: Scrambled Eggs With Avocado & Scottish Smoked Salmon
