Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to the Underground

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an excellent option to get from London City Airport to the heart of London. The airport has its own dedicated DLR station, located in Zone 3, linking you with London’s Underground tube network quick and easy.

P.S. – To avoid the maximum fare, don’t forget to tap your Oyster or contactless card/device on the small ticket validator at the bottom of the escalators leading up to the DLR platform! It’s a bit different than the Underground where you physically can’t go onto the platform until you tap in, so it can be easy to miss.

There’s also lifts connecting the DLR platforms to the terminal building, so no need to worry about lugging around your suitcases about.

Depending on where you’re going a bus may be your best bet to get to Central London. However, they are generally more suited for travel to/from parts of East London rather than Central London, given the very London potential for traffic congestion.

For a more stylish or convenient ride, you can also opt for a black cab to get to Central, with built-in wheelchair access, conveniently located near the airport entrance at London City Airport.
