When Valentine’s Day comes near, one of two things happen.
If you’re in a relationship, it’s the pressure of needing to have the perfect romance-filled day.
And if you’re single, it’s when you’d rather not be reminded that ‘love is in the air’.
But what if there was a magical day where there was no pressure to have romantic love but rather to celebrate the amazing platonic friendships you already have? Welcome to Galentine’s Day.
Funnily enough, this unofficial official holiday actually came from a Parks and Recs episode in 2010, and it’s stuck ever since. Celebrated on February 13th.
So, if you’re in London for this amazingly awesome holiday, here’s your guide to grabbing your girlfriends and celebrating Galentine’s Day the London way.
How to Celebrate Galentine’s Day in London

1. Girl’s Night Drinks & Happy Hours

Nothing says celebrating the girls like a happy hour in London.
Pick a fun venue like Simmons, Blame Gloria, Mr. Fogg’s, Petersham Nursery, or Tonight Josephine for a girl’s night worth remembering. Make sure you book in advance!
Simmons – a super affordable (for London) & funky bar chain across the city. Happy Hour 🍹 Sunday – Friday from 4pm-9pm.
Blame Gloria – a vibrant cocktail & wine bar in the heart of Covent Garden (and Clapham Junction). Happy Hour, Covent Garden location🍹Mon – Wed from 5pm-7pm, Thursday from 4pm-7pm, Friday from 4pm-6pm, Sunday from 7pm-8pm
Mr. Fogg’s Treehouse – a whimsical bar inspired by botanicals and the novel Around the World in 80 Days. No happy hour unfortunately, but too beautiful not to mention!
La Goccia Covent Garden / Petersham Nursery – a foliage-filled Italian restaurant specialising in seasonal dishes. Aperitivo Hour 🍹 Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday 4pm to 6pm.
Tonight Josephine Shoreditch – a late-night cocktail bar, super girly in the best way. Happy Hour 🍹 Tues – Thurs from 5pm-11pm, Friday from 5pm-8pm.
2. Treat Yourself to Afternoon Tea

Catching up with girlfriends in London over afternoon tea is second to heaven.
To combine some London sightseeing with your Galentine’s Day celebrations, take the Brigit’s Bakery Bus Tour and whizz around the city with the gals in style.
Otherwise, you can see the city by river with an Afternoon Tea Cruise across London.
If you’d prefer to stay on land, read my affordable afternoon tea guide and gluten-free afternoon tea guide for some ideas.
Or go all out and book a boujee afternoon tea in an 18th-century tea room at Sketch.
3. Have a Cheeky Karaoke at Lucky Voice

Because nothing says I love you like screaming, ‘IF YOU WANNA BE MY LOVER, YOU GOTTA GET WITH MY FRIENDS’ (speaking from experience here).
Celebrate Galentine’s Day with a cosy karaoke night at Lucky Voice Soho and sing the night away London style.
Their private rooms can fit up to 30 people for 2 hours and range from £8-£14 per person, depending on if you’re visiting during peak or off-peak hours.
P.S – Tickets are more expensive at the door, so make sure you book in advance!
4. Bottomless Brunch Anyone?

Putting aside that bottomless brunch in London is one of my favourite things ever, it’s also a fabulous way to catch up with friends and celebrate having them in your lives — with a mimosa or two.
The Daisy Green chain’s bottomless brunch in London is my top pick by far. Including a savoury and sweet brunch dish alongside 90 minutes of sweet Daisy Fizz (check out their menu).
For the full experience, make sure to book for the Darcie & May Green location — a lovely barge restaurant on Regent’s Canal in Paddington.
5. Spa Day with the Gals

For the full Galentine’s Day pampering experience, why not take up a spa day with your girlfriends? (or mum!).
The Aire Ancient Spa is great if you want to splash the cash and feel like you’ve stepped in the Roman Baths in Central, the Richmond Habour Hotel & Spa is perfect for a South West London getaway, and the Intercontinental O2 is prime for a low-key pampering experience in Greenwich.
Have a lovely Galentine’s Day! X
