Looking for the best cafés in Clapham? Here’s where to grab a coffee (or a catch-up) in one of South London’s liveliest neighbourhoods — from a local.

This post may contain affiliate links. Check out my Disclosure & Privacy Policy for more information.

Clapham has a bit of everything — the sprawl of Clapham Common, the busiest rail station in the UK, and a historic Old Town that still feels like a village.

Add in a young crowd, plenty of families, and a serious appetite for coffee, and you’ve got one of the best areas south of the river for café hopping.

Here’s the best cafés in Clapham, whether you’re grabbing a flat white to-go, hunting down pancakes, or just in need of a place to sit for a while — from a Londoner.

P.S. – Be sure to check out my Things to Do in Clapham guide after this to make a day in the area!

Common

17 THE PAVEMENT, SW4 0HY

Right on the edge of Clapham Common, this bright café is always a good bet.

At Common all their coffee is locally roasted, cakes are organic, and they do a happy hour every day (4–7pm) if you fancy something stronger.

There’s also a boutique section stocked with sustainable homeware, books and natural beauty bits — so easy to leave with more than just your morning flat white…

Must try: Goat Cheese & Fig Jam Toastie

Brickwood

16 CLAPHAM COMMON SOUTH SIDE, SW4 7AB

Brickwood has grown into a mini South London chain, but the Clapham branch still holds on to their independent feel.

The all-day brunch menu mixes Aussie-inspired plates with London staples, and their banana bread with espresso butter is basically a local legend.

Seats can be competitive at the weekend, so go early if you don’t fancy waiting.

Must try: The Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes

Reyes Coffee & Brunch

6 OLD TOWN, SW4 0JY

Reyes Cafe is small but lively spot in Clapham Old Town.

Brunch is served lovingly all day, and the outdoor tables are perfect when the sun’s out.

Expect bagels, pancakes, and the usual suspects…

Must try: The Halloumi Bagel

Coffee Wake Cup

14 CLAPHAM PARK ROAD, SW4 7BB

Don’t be put off by the pun — Coffee Wake Cup is cheerful, colourful and a reliable Clapham cafe option for smoothies, cakes and coffee.

They lean healthy but without being preachy, and the mugs, plates and presentation are all very Instagram-friendly.

Must try: The Black Cherry & Almond Muffins

Cafe Delight

19 CLAPHAM HIGH STREET, SW4 7TS

This is Clapham

Family-run and unfussy, Cafe Delight has been around for 20+ years and still pulls a steady stream of regulars (and newbies like me).

The breakfasts are hearty, the coffee is strong, and their cafe offers a much-needed breather from the Clapham chains on the High Street.

Must try: The Full Monty

The Common Espresso Bar London

10 CLAPHAM PARK ROAD, SW4 7BB

Another fabulous independent near the High Street, The Common Espresso Bar caters well to vegans and gluten-free Londoners with its delicious cakes and bakes.

It’s pet-friendly too, with treats on hand for dogs if you happen to be walking across the Common with a four-legged companion.

Must try: The Pistachio Dark Chocolate New York Cookie

Coffee House

19A CLAPHAM HIGH STREET, SW4 7TS

Just down from the Overground, Coffee House is cosy and practical — sandwiches, hot drinks, and cakes made fresh.

Handy for a pitstop before heading into central or if you’re staying local for the day.

Must try: The Raspberry Ripple Triple
