7 Best Cafes in Brick Lane (2023) – from a local
1. Kahaila
135 BRICK LANE, E1 6SB
First of all, my whole explanation as to why I would pick this cafe in Brick Lane will go unnoticed when I tell you that Kahaila is a nonprofit business.
This means that by having your coffee you’re directly supporting community projects and charitable causes in East London and beyond.
If that wasn’t enough, their extensive range of cakes, pastries, and sweet treats all come from independent businesses in London, plus their sandwiches, bites, and snacks are all freshly cooked on the day. I’m swooning.
Must try: A big slice of yummy cake. Literally any…but especially their Rainbow one
2. Oat Coffee Brick Lane
154 BRICK LANE, E1 6RU
No other place has the Brick Lane neighborhood feel like Oat Coffee.
Not only are the food and drinks good, but they also love writing lovely messages for you in your drinks! Their team really is creative with these, so make sure you also keep an eye on their Instagram.
FYI, this place is perfect to work or have informal meetings as a professional creative. If you don’t believe me, their mural will convince you.
Must try: The Vegan Oreo Chocolate Muffins, perfect for a picky sweet tooth.
3. Brick Lane Coffee Shop
47 BRICK LANE, E1 6PU
Brick Lane Coffee Shop is one of the few coffee shops in London I know that doesn’t close until late, and I love it for this very reason!
Here you can find a lovely spot in their colorful garden to enjoy your bubble tea, cookie dough, crepes, waffles, churros, breakfast, and the list goes on and on, all until 11:30pm.
Recommending a single drink from the Brick Lane Coffee Shop is difficult, as they are all so different, unique, and delicious! So you’ll have to just visit several, several times…
Must try: If available, the Vegan Chocolate Orange Tart.
4. Cafe Lavista
15 BRICK LANE, E1 6PU
If you fancy something hot or cold, something sweet or savory, something to have in or on the go… Then Café Lavista is for you.
In this Brick Lane coffee shop, the waffles are a best seller. But I suggest visiting on an empty stomach, as they have breakfast all day. And it is good. From the Kebab Roll to the Mediterranean Brioche.
You’ll also see a big selection of cakes, pastries, and cookies so… Do I really need to say more?
Must try: The best seller Banana & Walnut Loaf Cake!

5. Artisan Coffee
8 HENEAGE ST, E1 5LJ
Artisan Coffee is more than just specialty coffee on Brick Lane.
It’s a cosy corner with lovely people where you can work, read a book, and even play chess in their Saturday club.
Needless to say pastries, savories (including a delicious salmon and homemade cream cheese toast!) and drinks are splendid.
Do yourself a favour and save this place!
Must try: Their classic yet innovative New York style Cheesecake.
6. Chaiiwala Brick Lane
55 BRICK LANE, E1 6PU
Brick Lane is characterised by its culinary diversity, and you’ll experience it to the fullest at the chaiiwala cafe.
While they also serve delicious Indian food, the hot drinks at this one are from another world.
Their warm Karak Chaii and their refreshing Limbu Pani are some of the unique options in their large menu, but honestly, you’ll pick a winner no matter what.
P.S. – They serve breakfast all day as well!
Must try: The mouth-watering Rose Falooda
7. High Grade Coffee
91 BRICK LANE, E1 6QL
When looking for a cafe in Brick Lane, sometimes it’s about more than just coffee. It’s the chill experience, a good chat, and a friendly smile that makes you feel like you picked the right one…
Well, that’s exactly what you’ll find at High Grade Coffee.
The people running this lovely cafe are passionate about what they do and their local Brick Lane neighbourhood. So rest assured that if you live nearby, this may become your local.
