If you’re planning a Caribbean trip and want more than just beach time, Saint Lucia is worth a closer look.

I visited the island for the media launch of the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, an annual celebration that brings together international music, Caribbean culture, and local creative talent across some of the island’s most spectacular settings.

The festival is from 30 April – 10 May 2026, so if you’re thinking of visiting for yourself, here’s everything you need to know…

What is the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival?

Held every spring, the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival blends jazz with Caribbean rhythms, gospel, Afrobeats, pop, and R&B, alongside a growing programme of visual arts, fashion, and community events.

Rather than being confined to one arena, performances take place across the island — from historic landmarks to open-air waterfront venues — encouraging visitors to explore Saint Lucia as they go.

For 2026, the festival runs from 30 April to 10 May, continuing a legacy that now spans more than three decades and has become one of the Caribbean’s most iconic cultural events.

Line-up highlights for 2026

You don’t need to recognise every name on the programme to enjoy the festival, but here’s a few highlights to have on your radar:

• Opening Night – 30 April (Mindoo Phillip Park):
  The festival kicks off with Capleton (Jamaica) and Asa Banton (Dominica), alongside a mix of Caribbean talent and Saint Lucian performers
• Pure Jazz Nights – Rodney Bay Pavilion:
  Two nights of the festival are dedicated to jazz, with Esperanza Spalding headlining on 5 May, followed by Branford Marsalis on 7 May
• Kingdom Night – 6 May (Pigeon Island):
  A gospel-focused evening featuring Tye Tribbett and Ada Ehi, joined by Saint Lucia’s own award-winning gospel artistes Shirleyann Cyril-Mayers and Nigela St. Clair-Daniel.
• Caribbean Fusion – 8 May (Pigeon Island):
  One of the most anticipated nights of the festival, bringing together The Original Wailers with Skip Marley, plus Kes the Band, Dexta Daps, and a Saint Lucian mélange of artists.
• World Beats – 9 May:
  Nigerian superstar Tems headlines alongside UK R&B singer-songwriter Ella Mai, with additional performances from regional and Saint Lucian acts.
• The Ultimate Celebration – 10 May (Mother’s Day):
  The closing night features Billy Ocean, Beverley Knight, Mervin Wilkinson and Friends, and a yet-to-be-announced main act, bringing the festival to a celebratory close.

Where I stayed: Secrets Saint Lucia

For the trip, I stayed at Secrets Saint Lucia Resort & Spa, an adults-only, all-inclusive resort set along the island’s northern coastline.

It’s an ideal base if you’re attending festival events while still wanting genuine downtime built into your stay.

Think spacious rooms, a calm beach, multiple restaurants, and thoughtful service, making it easy to properly switch off between events.

Experiencing Saint Lucia beyond the stages

One of the best things about attending the Jazz & Arts Festival is that the music naturally slots around island exploration.

Between events, I spent time at Pigeon Island National Landmark, one of Saint Lucia’s most important historic sites and a key festival venue.

With sweeping sea views, old military ruins, and a dramatic coastal setting, it’s hard to imagine a better backdrop for live music.

Elsewhere, the island offers plenty, from:

• A scenic catamaran cruise along Saint Lucia’s west coast (including snorkelling)

• A stop at Soufrière’s sulphur springs (the world’s only drive-in volcano)

• Saint Lucian cuisine and drinks at Pigeon Island’s iconic Thirsty Parrot

• A local history tour of Saint Lucia’s Castries city centre

Planning your visit

If you’re considering a trip, I’d recommend building a 7–10 day itinerary around the festival. That gives you time to enjoy a handful of headline performances while still experiencing Saint Lucia properly.
