Looking for a great cup of coffee on Baker Street? Whether you’ve just finished at the Sherlock Holmes Museum, wandered over from Regent’s Park, or you’re spending the day around Marylebone, there are plenty of lovely cafés nearby that make it worth sticking around for a while.

I’ve spent a fair few mornings here between meetings and long walks in Regent’s Park, and while Baker Street might not be the first place that comes to mind for coffee, it’s full of small surprises once you look past the chains.

Here are my favourite spots to grab a cup in the area — from a Londoner.

A Local’s Guide to the Best Cafes on Baker Street

1. Reubens Cafe & Bakery

52 Baker St, London W1U 7BT

Just a few doors down from the station, Reubens Café & Bakery is a bit of a Baker Street institution.

It’s the café arm of Reubens Restaurant, London’s long-standing Jewish deli, and you’ll find the same warm hospitality and fresh bakes that have kept locals coming back for decades.

Expect generous sandwiches stacked with salt beef, proper New York–style bagels, and pastries that actually taste homemade. Their cheesecakes are also worth the stop…

It’s casual, a little old-school, and the kind of place where you can sit with a good coffee and people-watch for a while.

Must try: Reubens NY Breakfast

2. EtnaCoffee

54 Baker St, London W1U 7BU

If you’re after proper Italian coffee near Baker Street, Etna Coffee is the one to know.

It’s a small Sicilian-run café just off George Street, serving rich espresso, freshly baked arancini and cannoli that taste like they’ve travelled straight from Catania that morning.

There’s nothing fancy about it — a handful of tables, quick service, and regulars who greet the staff by name — but that’s exactly what makes it so good.

Pop in for a macchiato and a pastry, or stay for lunch if you can (their lasagna is heavenly).

Must try: Cannolis!

3. Sara Cafe

13A Crawford St, London W1U 6BZ

Just off Baker Street, Sara Cafe is a cosy shisha and Turkish coffee spot that stays open late.

It’s relaxed and low-lit, with great Turkish desserts, coffee and waffles. Need I say more?

Must try: Loaded Waffles

4. The Veg Box Cafe

136 Marylebone Rd, London NW1 5PH

A small and friendly plant-based café just a short walk from Baker Street, The Veg Box Café focuses on simple, wholesome food and organic coffee.

It’s an easy place to spend a slow hour — and the smoothie bowls are especially good.

Must try: Smoothie Bowl

5. Saint Espresso

214 Baker St, London NW1 5RT

If you take your coffee seriously, Saint Espresso is the one.

Their coffee is consistently excellent — smooth, well-balanced and served without fuss — and the minimalist interiors make it a good spot for focusing if you’re working remotely or journalling for a bit.

Pastries are baked fresh each morning, and their small breakfast menu is worth staying for.

Must try: Flat White & The Brioche French Toast
