Le Robinet d’Or Paris Hotel Review: A Boutique Gem Near Gare Du Nord or Tourist Trap?

I paid for this stay myself, and all opinions are my own.

Since I moved to London at what is slowly starting to become synonymous with the response of asking a beautifully mysterious woman her age — I’ve loved going to Paris.

There’s something both whimsical and fascinating about being able to go from King’s Cross International to Gare du Nord without so much as a nervous ‘let’s weigh your bags’ check-in or army-like ‘arms up’ TSA checkpoint.

Despite my bounty of trips to the city of romance, I still hadn’t found a hotel I fully fancied.

But on a recent 4-day trip to Paris, I finally stayed at a hotel I loved: Le Robinet d’Or.

Now, huge disclaimer that I will continually be adding to these recommendations, as much as I loved Le Robinet d’Or — it is still, in fact, considered a ‘tourist hotel’, and there are of course dozens upon dozens of Paris hotels I simply have yet to stay in.

However, if you are in fact a (don’t say it too loud — the locals will get you!) tourist to Paris… then I personally think you’ll love a stay here.

Here’s my personal review of the quaint and boutique Le Robinet d’Or Hotel.

The Hotel

Once a 1930s tap factory, Le Robinet d’Or is a stylish boutique hotel drenched with exposed brick, modern charm, and beautiful rooms in the 10th arrondissement/district of Paris (with a highly rated French bistro of the same name on the ground floor).

Although some instantly jump to ‘American’ when they hear ‘tourist’ — most of the tourists at this hotel were French from outside Paris or European.

Location:

The most unsexy yet practical thing to consider when you’re going to Paris is location.

Despite the incredible metro system (not quite our glorious Tube, but it’s a close second), it is lovely to be somewhere that doesn’t take ages to get to from the Eurostar — and if your vibe is being in a local neighbourhood, even better.

Le Robinet d’Or ticked both those boxes for me, being just a 10-minute walk away from Eurostar’s Gare du Nord and a 6-minute walk away from Gare de l’Est.

While here, you’re also less than a 5-minute walk away from the cool and trendy Canal Saint-Martin, filled with my favourite Parisian bakery LIBERTÉ, alongside some mouthwatering ‘if you know, you know’ bars restaurants like Le Verre Volé‘s natural wine bar and La Marine‘s incredible traditional French cuisine.

P.S. – While here, I do suggest skipping the breakfast at Le Robinet d’Or one of the days to go to LIBERTÉ, pick up an pastry and espresso and spend your morning taking in views along the Canal Saint Martin — it’s a dream.

Rooms & Amenities

Once you’ve been checked in by their staff that proves ‘Parisian friendliness’ stereotypes are outdated — you’ll be led through their industrial-style hotel to your room.

Now, fair and expected warning that European hotels are notoriously small, or as I like to say, quaint. And Le Robinet d’Or’s rooms are no different — so embrace it!

The first thing I loved here was the wallpaper, which instantly made me feel the boutique Parisian charm I’d been promised.

Between the charming wooden writing desk tucked in the corner, the impressive thread count of the double bed, and views onto swoony Haussmann-style houses and local Parisian scenes—it didn’t take long for me to know my graft of searching for a recommendable Parisian hotel wasn’t in vain.

Now I would’ve been satisfied there, to be honest, but then there were the macarons and L’Occitane.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the delicious French treat wrapped to perfection on my bed, and the bathroom’s abundant supply of take-home size L’Occitane, refilled daily and generously.

Between the ambience of the room, the boutique charm of the building, and the local location — it truly felt like I was in a Parisian movie for my short and lovely 4-day trip to the city.

A 3-Star in Paris is a 4-Star Everywhere Else

Not to be a hotel snob, but I’d been comfortable in my 4-star and above criteria for hotels for some time now — which is why I was shocked when I realised Le Robinet d’Or was, in fact, not a 4-star.

Between the rooms, concierge bag service, the staff, their fabulously-rated bistro…and the macarons, it’ll easily show you that a 3-star in Paris is a 4-star everywhere else.

Final Thoughts on Le Robinet d’Or
