🇫🇷 Paris, France Quick Tips

🚉 How to Get to Paris, France

From London (and anywhere in Europe really), the best way to get to the romantic Paris is by train.

There’s something thrillingly romantic about hopping on the Eurostar, cruising through the heart of the English countryside and the darkened mystery of the Channel Tunnel, only to emerge in the vibrant City of Lights in just over 2 hours. Extra points for arriving right to the city centre!

Also, you can always check Skyscanner for a price comparison of all the flights available on the day you plan to visit. It truly is the holy grail of travel!

🗓️ Best Time to Visit Paris

Contrary to popular belief, there’s no bad time to visit Paris (can you imagine Paris being ‘ugly’?) — each season drapes the city in its own unique charm. But, if I had to pick, I’d say spring (April to June) and fall (September to November) are the golden tickets.

During these times, the city blooms into a laid-back bohemian dream, lacking the big touristy numbers that are frequent in summer.

⏳ How Long to Spend in Paris, France? (Can you do 2 days in Paris?):

If you’re wondering if 2 days is enough for Paris, the answer is absolutely not! Sorry to break it to you, but this city is impossible to ‘finish’. But if it helps, this would even apply to locals.

Don’t worry if you can only do a weekend, though. If you hit the ground running and make the most out of those 48 hours (with only necessary pitstops for cheese and wine, naturally), you’ll find that the city generously offers a mix of iconic must-sees and tucked-away jewels.

Plus, it’s better to be in Paris for 2 days than for none!

🎨 Top Attractions in Paris

Choosing among Paris’s attractions feels like picking a favorite child — so unfair! But, for the uninitiated, the classics deliver without fail: The Eiffel Tower (especially when it twinkles into a light show at night), the Louvre‘s monumental art feast, and Notre Dames gothic grace.

🏨 Where to Stay in Paris

I highly recommend staying in the Novotel Paris Centre Tour Eiffel during your trip.

Located within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and with a 4 Star ⭐️ rating, it offers contemporary and spacious rooms, an indoor heated swimming pool and a fitness room.

Plus, the whole city will be at your feet as it’s near public transport links.

2 Days in Paris Itinerary

Day 1

Paris is a city that rewards early birds, and today you’ll see how! Wear comfy shoes, because you’re about to step into a whole new (and never ending) world.

Morning

Start the Day at a Parisian Cafe

Visiting Paris for 2 days doesn’t mean you can’t soak yourself in the local culture. And what better way to do it than people watching at a Parisian cafe?

On the first day of my weekend, I chose the gorgeous and delicious Café Carrousel to start the day in a strategic location (near the Louvre) and with a gorgeous view.

You can copy me (you won’t regret it), or you can find a cute one near your accommodation. It’s Paris, no café is bad!

Decisions, decisions… The Louvre or D’Orsay?

Now, Paris is the city that loves art. Basically every street, every corner, and every sign screams it. So you can’t leave it without going to a famous museum. You’ll have around 130 to choose from!

I can help you narrow it down, though. But get ready for a heart-stopping dilemma: D’Orsay or the Louvre? You can’t go wrong either way, but I don’t recommend doing both (I love taking my time).

If you’re in the mood for a timeless classic, the Louvre is like stepping into a giant treasure chest overflowing with world-renowned masterpieces (hello, Mona Lisa!).

Now, if impressionism is your jam and you dig a good Van Gogh or Renoir, the Musée d’Orsay is your house.

Afternoon

Have Lunch at Jardins Des Tuileries

After a morning lost in art, nothing beats a leisurely lunch at the Jardins des Tuileries. Grab some baguettes, cheese, and a bottle of wine — voilà, a picnic fit for a queen!

As you’re basking in the sun, you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Musee De L’Orangerie. And if you’re a Monet fan, you can’t — I repeat, CANNOT — miss the Water Lilies. It’s like walking into one of Monet’s dreamy sunsets! And your visit won’t take long, don’t worry.

Make a Pit Stop at Place de la Concorde

place de la concorde

Feeling rested and raring to go, glide your way over to Place de la Concorde. It’s a pinch-me-I-must-be-dreaming kind of place, sandwiched between Champs-Élysées and the Jardins des Tuileries.

Typically, there’s a giant Ferris wheel, which is beyond perfect for Insta-snaps!

Head to Montmartre

While it’s easy to keep it in the centre of the city, the bohemian neighbourhood of Montmartre is more than worth the visit.

So shoot up its charming hills, and get ready to huff and puff as you conquer the steps to the iconic Sacré-Cœur. The reward? An eye-popping panorama of Paris at sunset!

Seize the moment and buy a beer or wine from the local vendors (you’ll see them) to enjoy the view.

After that, make sure you wander around the artsy neighbourhood. You’ll see artists in action, and maybe sneak in a little coffee break at a local café.

Yes, it’s almost evening but you’ll still find them open — when in Paris, right?

Evening

Feel Parisian at Moulin Rouge or a Jazz Bar

moulin rouge paris

As the day gives way to a twinkling evening, it’s time for the perfect finale. Fancy some high-kicks and feathers at the legendary Moulin Rouge? There isn’t anything like it!

Or perhaps you’d like to sway to sultry notes at a tucked-away jazz bar? One of the best ones I’ve heard about is Bab-Ilo, also in the area and way less touristy than others.

But maybe, just maybe, you’ll skip both and go to my favourite in the Latin Quarter — Le Caveau de la Huchette.

Either way, you’ll be ending your day in true Parisian style.

Day 2

Who’s ready for round two? Today’s your last day in Paris and we need to make it count. Let’s get to exploring!

Morning

Take in the View from Galeries Lafayette

Why not start from the top? Literally!

Our first stop: the dazzling Galeries Lafayette, where you’ll soak the Parisian shopping atmosphere. Although that’s not the main reason why we’re here — it’s the rooftop!

The warm Parisian breeze and the heart-fluttering sneak peek at the Eiffel Tower far off in the skyline is just priceless. Trust me, witnessing the Paris skyline here, it’s like the city’s laying out a glitter-strewn Welcome mat for you.

The Palais Garnier (the Opera) is quite close from here. The building is absolutely gorgeous, so make sure you have a peek.

Afternoon

Enjoy the Sophistication of Champs-Élysées

Next up, we’re strutting down the ever-so-stylish Champs-Élysées, rubbing shoulders with chic Parisians and star-struck tourists alike.

Don’t forget to pop into Ladurée, a little shop you may have heard of, where you can get a pastel jewel box of delectable macarons. Buy a handful — or heck, a boxful —of these dainty sweet treats. You’ll need them later!

While here, why not spot a cute corner for a charmingly rustic Parisian brunch? Eggs, croissants, coffee, repeat. Basically an edible love letter to your taste buds.

Spot the Iconic Arc de Triomphe

From our brunch spot, a hearty ‘Bonjour!’ to the iconic Arc de Triomphe is possible in just a few minutes, rearing up at the western end of Champs-Élysées.

Soak in the grandeur and snap some memory-inducing pictures to gloat about on your Insta later!

Go to Notre Dame and Walk the River Seine

Catch the Metro and get ready to be mesmerised by the gothic beauty of Notre Dame.

While you can’t go in just yet, you can take a walking tour with entry to the Crypt, where you’ll learn all about the decades of construction and the fire that almost destroyed centuries of history.

After that is my favourite part: taking a relaxed stroll along the River Seine, with the grandeur of the Notre Dame in the backdrop.

As we wander closer to our main star — the Eiffel Tower, I hope you remembered your camera because the view is nothing short of a painter’s canvas!

Enjoy the Sunset at the Eiffel Tower!

And you’re here! Ending the touristy sights in Paris with the star of the show, la Tour Eiffel.

You can opt to climb it and surround yourself with its majestic height, which is an iconic must do if you haven’t. However, if you’re not interested or you’ve already done that, you’ll be thrilled for the alternative — relax and enjoy the view!

Remember those macaroons you got earlier? Why not pair them with a bottle of Rosé or Sauvignon Blanc? You can find a spot in the gardens right next to the Eiffel Tower. There’s no better place to try one of these delicacies for the first time!

As the tower lights twinkle, and the sun dips, the wine, the view, the bliss — it’s like falling in love!

Evening

Enjoy a French Dinner

Hungry, are you? Well, I’ve got you covered! We’ll conclude with a divine French dinner at Le Suffren, a charming little bistro just a wink away from the Eiffel Tower.

It’s the perfect spot to unwrap that oh-so-Parisian culinary voyage — each bite a delight, each sip a dream.

Don’t worry if it’s too full, though. Paris is a city that loves food, so I bet anything nearby or even a cosy spot near your accommodation will do. If not, this is the perfect time for that booking you had in mind!

The Best Tours and Activities in Paris

Where to Eat in Paris

where to eat in paris

Asking where to eat in Paris is like asking which park to visit in London. It’s absolutely difficult, as there are a lot of options, and it’s difficult to go wrong with any. However, there are 3 spots I experienced in my trip that I highly recommend.

Bouillon Chartier

Imagine digging into unpretentiously scrumptious French food that doesn’t ask you to sell a kidney. Yes, you heard that right! The vibe here is like stepping back into a bustling Parisian bistro from the 1900s, where the buzz of the atmosphere is as delicious as the meals.

Pink Mamma

From the moment you step in, you’re embraced by an eclectic decor that’s as vibrant and inviting as the Italian fare they serve. But the real cherry on the cake? Just when you think your night couldn’t get any better, find the hidden staircase leading to their speakeasy bar. Ssshh… it’s our little secret!

Stohrer Patisserie

The oldest patisserie in Paris is still in operation since its doors first swung open in 1730. Stepping into Stohrer is like taking a step back in time, with its gilded interiors and mouth-watering displays of pastries that have been perfected over centuries (3, to be exact).

P.S. – If you’re looking for ‘Tik Tok Paris foods’ be sure to get the hot chocolate from Angelina or Le Relais De L’Entrecôte for steak.

Places to Visit Near Paris

Leaving Paris?! What are you talking about?! Well, it isn’t so crazy if you consider the rest of the country is as gorgeous as its capital city. And there are 3 day trips from Paris that make top of the list. If you have a day to spare, that is!

Versailles Palace

This isn’t just a castle; it’s a golden ticket into the lavish life of French royalty. Imagine strutting through the Hall of Mirrors like you own the place, winking at your reflection among the 357 mirrors. And, let’s not forget those gardens! Don’t miss the Fountain Show if you’re visiting on the weekend.

Mont Saint Michael

This place is not just an island; it’s like something straight out of a storybook, perched at the edge of Normandy. The medieval abbey at the top plays hard to get; it makes you work those legs with a climb, but the views are worth every huff and puff.

Loire Valley Castles

Prepare to be dazzled in the valley of the kings… and, well, their castles. It’s like stepping into a photo album of “Castles Weekly.” Each one has its own flair, stories, and some serious architectural swagger. You’ll even have the chance to try some local wines!

A: YES! A thousand times yes! Whether it’s your first rendezvous or a fleeting return, trust me, the city has a way of making every moment count.

Q: How much is a weekend in Paris?

A: A weekend in Paris can be as modest or as lavish as your wallet allows. But I’d say you’re looking at anywhere from £400-£600 per person. Let me break it down.

A decent hotel room might pinch about £150-£200 per night. Dining out, hopping between those cute cafes, bistros, and maybe a splurge meal could set you back around £60-£100 a day per person. Attractions, metros, and the occasional shopping spree? Add another £60-£100.

Remember, these are finger-in-the-wind estimates — Paris can be a penny-pincher’s paradise or a spendthrift’s dream!

Q: Why is Paris important?

A: Paris is the birthplace of countless movements in art, fashion, gastronomy, and the art de vivre (the art of living, that is). This city has been the muse for poets, the stage for artists, and the runway for fashion icons. It’s more than important, it’s a landmark!

Q: Why is Paris a good place to visit?

A: Visiting Paris is like visiting no other place on earth—it’s a sensory overload in the best possible way. From the moment you step onto its cobblestone streets, you’re part of a living, breathing masterpiece.

Q: Is Paris still worth visiting?

A: Listen up, I’ll tell you straight — Paris is timeless. Every visit offers new discoveries, hidden gems tucked away, waiting to be uncovered. The city evolves and the streets buzz. So, yes, it’s worth visiting over and over again (in my very biased and right opinion…).
