📌 SAVE these London wine bars for your list 🍷 It’s rare that I get to combine two of my favourite things at once. (Current list also includes a coffee and a good book, and potter and a podcast.) On that note…here are some fabulous London wine spots:

📍 Humble Grape, Islington (11–13 Theberton St, London N1 0QY)

For lovely small plates and a huge wine selection from independent vineyards.

📍 Bar Rioja, King’s Cross (3 Varnishers Yard, Regent Quarter, London N1 9FD)

A tucked-away courtyard bar entirely dedicated to Rioja, with excellent jamón and over 40 wines from the region.

📍 Vagabond Wines Paddington, (6A Sheldon Square, London W2 6DL) & across London

A laid-back self-pour wine bar, incredible for trying a little bit of everything (and great value too).

The only question is, are you red or white? (I’m orange 🍊)

Happy Londoning,
Candace x

Comment HALLO and I’ll send you my full Utrecht Comment HALLO and I’ll send you my full Utrecht guide—with where to stay, what to do, what to eat, and how to spend a very lovely few days here. 🇳🇱

Planning a trip to the Netherlands? If you’re looking for an Amsterdam alternative, Utrecht is SUCH a good shout.

Just 25 minutes by direct train from Amsterdam, it has all the Dutch canal charm, but is smaller, calmer, and much easier to explore for a day or weekend trip.

From lunch by the Oudegracht, wandering around Domplein, vintage shopping on Voorstraat, and ending the evening with live music tucked inside an old canal cellar, it’s such a lovely city to enjoy.

Has Utrecht made your list?

Happy travels,

Comment HARTWELL and I’ll send you my full guide Comment HARTWELL and I’ll send you my full guide to staying at the property—including more bits on history of the house, what to enjoy during a stay, and practical tips for booking. 🏡🇬🇧

Hartwell House & Spa is one of those rare hotels where the house itself feels just as much the experience as the stay. A National Trust-owned stately home in Buckinghamshire with centuries of history, including its years as home to Louis XVIII of France and his exiled court in the early 1800s (and Queen Marie Joséphine of Savoy).

Today, that history sits alongside grand drawing rooms, a spa, afternoon tea served in the house itself, a beautiful bar, and more than 90 acres of grounds to explore.

Practicals:

What began as a Brixton pop-up has since moved to Fitzrovia, with a menu that leans bold and incredibly flavourful—layered with British ingredients and contemporary and traditional West African cooking rooted in Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa influences.

From bean cake with confit Irish brown trout and shitto, to rice pancakes layered with white crab and uda mayonnaise, guineafowl finished with smoked mussel sauce, dry-aged sirloin with yaji and onion sauce and Cornish monkfish with smoked eel and soko, it’s a divine and delicious night out in the city.

How to Make Friends in London 🇬🇧🏡 London How to Make Friends in London 🇬🇧🏡

London can be one of the loneliest and most transient cities in the world, but it doesn’t have to be.

From moving to the UK 10 years ago without knowing a single soul to building some of the closest relationships I’ve had in my life, London is a place that’s best with community ♥️ here’s how to find yours in the Big Smoke:

Join @the.circlelondon events 💛 it was started by my lovely friend Alex to connect people building a life in London 🏡  think creativity, cocktail and art nights, coworking days, and a supper club coming up. They’d love to have you along!

🧘🏽‍♀️ London Hobby Groups: I’m of a huge belief that it’s easiest to connect with people that share a love of things you’re already interested in, whether it’s running with clubs like @swiftymondays, @stayinitlondon (there’s so many!) or walking clubs like @katieemo’s Sunday Strolls, yoga at a @hotpodyoga studio (my favourite) or bookclubs like - @cosylondonbookclub, @londongirlsbookclub_ or @bookbaruk, chances are if you’re craving a certain community, it already exists!

🍴London Supper Clubs: If you love food and connecting with people through food (🙋🏽‍♀️), London supper clubs are an amazing shout and great for meeting new people in a very relaxed and delicious setting. Some lovely ones in London are @supperclub.community, @supperclub.tube and @eatwith

💻 London Coworking Spaces & Events: For remote workers, freelancers and entrepreneurs ‘at work’ is a great place to make new connections too, some great community-focused ones are @secondhome_io, @theministry.london, and @dropin.work

Are there any clubs, groups, communities etc., you’re a part of that you recommend? If so, share them in the comments for other Londoners to see 🇬🇧

Tokyo is an INCREDIBLE city. It’s ancient and futuristic, divinely peaceful and endlessly bustling—and far too big to ever explore fully in one trip (similar to London). But here’s a few bits for a first introduction:

📍 Base yourself in Shibuya for immediate buzz, or Asakusa if you want a quieter stay and ryokan experience, paired with classic Tokyo sights like the National Museum, Yoyogi Park, Sensō-ji, Meiji Shrine and Nakamise-dori

📍 Explore Tsukiji Outer Market & eat at plenty of local Tokyo restaurants for udon, ramen, sushi, wagyu, mochi and more… then see the city from above at Tokyo Tower or Tokyo Skytree, with a teamLab adventure and chic rooftop views in Ginza or Shibuya

📍 For neighbourhoods with more character, I loved spending time in places like Shimokitazawa, Yanaka and Jimbocho, and I highly recommend finishing your time with a local women-owned tour in Tokyo like this kimono tour, shrine visit with photos

Copenhagen is one of those cities that’s just effortlessly cool—extremely walkable, design-led, and perfect for a lovely few days of slow city travel.

I’ve visited several times for family and am always discovering something new. Here are some bits to get up to during your time here:

🏨 Stay at Axel Guldsmeden—eco-friendly, a full spa, and the best hotel breakfast I’ve had in Europe

👑 See Nyhavn, Amalienborg Palace + the Changing of the Royal Guard

🍷 Enjoy an orange wine and a book at Herkules Pavillonen, tucked beside Rosenborg Castle—perfect for a slow afternoon

🛍 Paper Island for pop-up vintage markets + Broens Gadekøkken / Broens Street Food + Christianshavn nearby

🍴🍕 Have a night out in Vesterbro for restaurants, wine bars, and casual spots like Otto Pizza (that taught me yes—potato pizza is a thing, and it’s divine)

🖼 Visit Kunsthal Charlottenborg for contemporary art or Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek for sculptures and its beautiful winter garden

🌳 & for a lovely Danish nature fix, walk through Churchillparken & Copenhagen Botanical Garden

🧜🏽‍♀️ Have a peek at the very small Little Mermaid—touristy, yes, but still worth seeing as a keepsake

📌 Save this for your trip and let me know if Copenhagen’s made your list.

Popped into Travellers’ Tales in Marylebone, one of London’s newest bookshops dedicated entirely to travel. Inside, you’ll find shelves of travel memoirs, novels set around the world, guidebooks, and some very tempting coffee table books that make you want to start planning your next trip immediately.

They also have lovely letters to your future self you can send in shop, host travel talks during the year, organise small group trips, and can even help with bespoke travel planning if you’re looking for inspiration. A lovely stop if you enjoy travel writing—or just like wandering into a bookshop and seeing where it takes you (especially with the lovely backdrop of Marylebone).

A little bit of a different post today for somethi A little bit of a different post today for something that’s been on my mind a lot recently (and a lot of travel bloggers/creators) and that’s AI-travel content.

From seeing a incredibly fooling videos of Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace flooded with flowers to AI travel influencers showcasing destinations, it is getting harder and harder to tell what’s real and what’s not when it comes to travel content.

A reminder that travel bloggers, writers and digital creators that take their work seriously—spend thousands every year on travel to curate high-quality recommendations and content for their audience and articles. Something AI gets to skip completely whilst still getting the benefit of your attention and in many times, our scraped work.

With that said, I’m all for technology and using it in your life and business (I do daily!) but a reminder that when it comes to travel, the best recommendations will always come from humans who’ve travelled and experienced a destination first-hand 🫶🏽🌎

What do you think about AI & travel content? (or using AI to plan your travels). Would love to hear your thoughts.

Comment BRIDGERTON and I’ll send you the full it Comment BRIDGERTON and I’ll send you the full itinerary to plan your day—including transport tips and more Bridgerton filming locations you can visit in real life. 🇬🇧

If watching Bridgerton has ever made you wish you could step into Regency-era London for a day…the good news is you absolutely can.

Here’s a lovely route through the city inspired by the series:

🏰 Hampton Court Palace — the royal palace used as Queen Charlotte’s residence in the show.

🫖 Afternoon tea in Mayfair — one of London’s most elegant traditions and very much part of Regency society, have a lovely one at The Athenaeum.

🌿 Greenwich & Ranger’s House — where you’ll find the exterior of the Bridgerton family home.

It’s a wonderful way to experience some of London’s most historic places while stepping into the atmosphere of the show (currently deliriously obsessed with Season 4).

After years of exploring historic houses across England, these are three that really stayed with me—from a grand palace built as a national gift, to a theatrical Gothic villa, and Queen Victoria’s private seaside escape.

🏰 Blenheim Palace – the birthplace of Winston Churchill and one of Britain’s most impressive baroque palaces. In Woodstock, Oxfordshire about 1.5 hours from London via a train from London Paddington to Oxford, then a 20-minute bus or taxi.

🏰 Strawberry Hill House – Horace Walpole’s extraordinary Gothic revival house in Twickenham, about 35 minutes from central London via train from London Waterloo to Strawberry Hill.

🏰 Osborne House – Queen Victoria’s beloved Isle of Wight residence, complete with its own private beach, about 2–2.5 hours from London via a train from London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour, then ferry to Ryde and taxi to the estate.
